Support Groups

Yesterday I posted a comment on a support group I belonged to on Facebook. I believe it had the word Shit in it although I can not be positive because it was removed from the group and I did not save it to post here as I planned to. That being said I decided to delete myself from this group and not have anything more to do with it. The post was on something I had read yesterday at TheAutismNews.com that Pissed me off so much I compelled me to post. I believe  I said Pissed too. The following is that article which I posted to my Facebook page as well. This is what I wrote on my Facebook wall.  Kids are so damn cruel! I would hope that every parent would have the goal to teach equality but some are just as hateful and cruel as the kids their raising. The teacher is just as bad by condoning their behavior! The school should fire him! I believe this is also what I wrote in the group except I added I can’t believe this shit is allowed to happen before The teacher. I thought I wrote the exact same thing on my Facebook wall. Anyways I apologized if my language offended and stated that I was Pissed by what I had read. I had an email in my inbox about using cuss words on the group page and a bunch of members posted that they were offended and I should never use such language and that it was a rule. I was never made aware of such a rule, but obviously I felt ganged up on and deleted myself. That will be my last attempt to join a group of any kind related to Autism at all. I do not swear in posts anywhere often, this story rocked me to the core. I can not believe this F’ING teacher saw this on video deleted it and let these abusive kids get away with this!!!!!!! You read it and tell me what you think Please!!!!!

About The Spectrum Mom

I am mom to two amazing children!! Jade my oldest is ten and Adrian is 7. My life happens to have one beautiful blessing in disguise the chance to be a mom to a child on the Autism Spectrum. Adrian was diagnosed with PDD-NOS on May 28, 2010 shortly after his sixth birthday. Since the start of our lives on the spectrum I have read books, watched numerous programs, found therapists, tried to navigate the public school system and special education. Looked into special diets (Adrian is currently on GFCF and we have seen tremendous improvement) and tried various medicines to help him. In addition to ASD Adrian also is diagnosed with ADHD and a seizure disorder BRE. This blog will mostly be about ASD and my life caring for Adrian.

  1. This has gotten me pretty shaken up. I’m ready to kick some, you know what! Especially after hearing your story about Adry the other day and the fact that the school didn’t notify you. You, as the parent, should be notified of ALL these types of occurrences and that does upset me! I agree that swearing should be limit in groups, but I also think that people should be understanding of the situation. Those people who ganged up on you are idiots. What they should have done is console you. You were right for leaving that group…completely the opposite of supportive to attack an upset parent!
